Who is the history guy?

Pete Forrester is an outdoor educator, archaeologist, and historical interpreter with over 15 years of experience working with children in natural environments. With a degree in Archaeology and a deep background in bushcraft, primitive skills, and wilderness travel, Pete specialises in turning history from something children simply learn about into something they experience for themselves.

Alongside his work as The History Guy, Pete has spent over a decade delivering outdoor education programmes through Forest Explorers in Cheshire, as well as working within the wider bushcraft and outdoor learning community and is a lead instructor at Howl Bushcraft. This depth of experience underpins every session, ensuring they are not only engaging, but rooted in real knowledge and practice.

Through The History Guy, Pete brings the past directly into schools with immersive Stone Age and Viking days packed with practical activities, storytelling, and real historical skills. Pupils might grind ochre, handle replica tools, try ancient crafts, or hear stories from the distant past — giving them a vivid and memorable connection to early history.
